OK, so it's ONLY been four months since our last post. YIKES! Need to be better about that. The good news is that not too much has happened race-wise since the end of November. Until Now. So here is our quick attempt to play catch up:

SUPER DUPER HUGE belated congratulations to Amanda Lovato for winning Ironman 70.3 Pucon. She toasted the competition in Chile on Jan 24th with a time of 4:36:10. More great racing is in store for Amanda this season, we just know it!

Sunny Gilbert, Amanda Lovato and Bree Wee had some great races last weeekend.

Sunny was the champ (not chump) at the Showdown at Sundown in Las Vegas on Saturday, March 27. She won the super-hilly race with a time of 4:50:06 (and had a GREAT race outfit to boot!)

Amanda also raced on Saturday--but in Oceanside, CA. She was the 11th pro woman at Ironman 70.3 California (always a stacked field) with a time of 4:40:22--a personal best for that course.

Bree Wee was the female champion at the 2010 Lavaman Triathlon in Waikaloa, HI on Sunday, March 28. She won the Olympic-distance race with a time of 2:06:17.

Awesome job, everyone! Can't wait for the next race.

Speedy Ironman Racing

Chrissy Parks kicked some major butt at Ford Ironman Arizona on Nov 21 in Tempe, AZ. She earned her 2010 Kona spot by finishing first in the 30-34 age group (13th female overall and the first age-group finisher) with a time of 9:56:21. Way to go, Chrissy!

Bree Wee and April Gellatly had strong finishes at Ford Ironman Cozumel on Nov 28 in Mexico. Bree was 5th overall with a time of 9:45:24, and April was 7th overall with a time of 10:01:40. Awesome job, gals!

Kickin' Butt in Clearwater

Super huge congratulations to Amanda Stevens for her 8th place finish at the Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 triathlon on November 13. She had a great day in Clearwater finishing with a lightning-fast time of 4:13:16.

Soma Half

Congrats to Chrissy Parks for winning the Soma Half Iron Triathlon in Tempe, AZ last weekend with a time of 4:36:35. We can't wait for her to kick butt at Ironman Arizona in a few weeks!

Catching Up...

Congrats to April Gellatly for collecting her first paycheck in an Ironman race. She was the 8th pro woman at the Ford Ironman in Louisville, KY with a personal-best time of 10:20:00.

Amanda Stevens kicked some butt at the Nautica Malibu Triathlon in CA this weekend. She was 3rd in the Olympic-distance race with a time of 2:03:33.

Alex and Dawn posted strong finishes at the 79th La Jolla Rough Water swim (and indeed it was a rough one out there). Alex finished 2nd overall in the Gatorman 3-mile swim with a time of 1:00:08. Dawn won the women's race (5th overall) with a time of 1:02:58.

More Racin'

Congrats to Sunny Gilbert and Courtenay Brown for finishing 1-2 in the Freshwater Trust Portland Triathlon in Oregon last Sunday. Sunny finished the Olympic-distance race in 2:15:35 and Courtenay's time was 2:17:51.

Bree Wee placed 4th at the Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 in the Philippines. Her time was 4:45:32.

Open water meister's Alex and Dawn finished first and third overall at the Pacific Open Water Challenge in Long Beach.

Catching Up

Yikes! Time to catch up on some old news.

Congrats to Amanda Stevens for her awesome race at the 5430 Long Course Triathlon in Boulder, CO on August 9th. She was first out of the water and fourth overall with a time of 4:26:32.

Courtenay Brown was the overall winner of the Danskin Triathlon in Seattle, WA on August 16th. She won the sprint race in 1:06:11.

Sunny Gilbert rocked it at Xterra Portland. She finished 3rd in the pro division. Way to go, Sunny.

Dawn Heckman and Alex Kostich were at the Naples Island Swim Sunday. Despite giving in to peer pressure and not wearing a speed suit, Alex was able to pull off the victory in the 2.75 mile swim. Dawn was a close (too close according to Alex) second overall.

This is a tad bit late, but SUPER HUGE congrats to Keri Hehn who qualified for World Championships in Rome! She hauled ass in the 200 breast at nationals and finished second with a time of 2:23.70. Her 3^rd place finish in the 100 breast (1:06.71) wasn’t too shabby, either. She’s currently training in Riccione, Italy with the USA Swimming national team before they head off to kick some butt in Rome. She’s having a blast, and we must share this hilarious blog post with you:

“Tonight we decided to go to this restaurant by the beach and it was such a long walk that we had already done numerous times so we went to this bike place and rented a six person bike. Four of us girls were cruising along on this thing down the middle of Dante Street, and everyone was staring at us. Then we pass by some other members of the team and decide to pick them for some money. Ha ha. That didn’t last long. We get to this restaurant, and it is nice. We sit down, and we have some bread and oil. One of the girls puts it in the ASHTRAY. All of us are eating it not thinking of anything, and all of a sudden this lady brought us out the real dish to mix everything. We were like, “OMG WE WERE EATING OUT OF AN ASHTRAY!” We were soooooooooooo embarrassed! We were like, “yeah that girl is totally going home tonight and being like, ‘Oh these stupid American girls came in and thought the ashtray was a dish!” But it was so clean and we are not used to having ashtrays on the table. Who knew!!!”

Big Check Madness

Congrats to Tracy Robertson for her third-place finish at the San Diego International Triathon on June 28th. Her time of 1:46:11 was speedy enough to earn her first "Happy Gilmore" check. You can read all about it on her blog.

Congrats to Amanda Stevens, Michael Lovato and Rachel Ross for their great performances on June 14th.

Amanda and Michael recorded podium finishes at the Eagleman Ironman 70.3 in Cambridge, MD. Amanda (who was first out of the water by more than a minute) placed 4th with a time of 4:27:30, and Michael finished 3rd with a time of 3:56:51.

Rachel Ross completed her first "Escape" at the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in San Francisco, CA. She was 3rd amateur overall with a time of 2:41:21.

Short and Sweet

The races were a little shorter this weekend, as Team Splish competed in some Olympic distance events.

Amanda and Michael Lovato both placed 5th at the Columbia Triathlon in Ellicot City, MD. Amanda's time was 2:14:11, and Michael's time was 1:58:50.

Amanda Stevens finished 9th (2:14:40) at the highly-competitive Pan American Triathlon Confederation Championships in Oklahoma City, OK, and Sunny Gilbert was the overall winner at the second annual Duck Bill Thrill Triathlon in Oregon.

Way to go, Splishers!

Half Iron Mania

Team Splish conquered "The Beast" last weekend in St. Croix at the St. Croix Ironman 70.3 race. Amanda Lovato had a fantastic day finishing 6th place with a time of 4:45:12. Bree Wee was right behind her placing 7th with a time of 4:46:25. New Splisher Teresa Nelson won the 30-34 age group (13th female overall) with a time of 5:06:26, and she's headed to Kona! Huge congrrats, Teresa! Michael Lovato also had a strong race with a top 10 finish. He placed 8th with a time of 4:14:07.

St. Croix wasn't the only race last weekend! Sunny Gilbert placed 13th at the Avia Wildflower Triathlon in Lake San Antonio, CA with a time of 5:06:30. Although she did not have the race she wanted, she still enjoyed being out there in the mix. "Not every race can be perfect. Now I have more motivation for the next time I toe the line," Gilbert said.

Team Splish had another great weekend of racing. Bree Wee showed some speed at the St. Anthony's Triathlon in St. Petersburg, FL. She finished eighth with a time of 2:04:00.

Keri Hehn and Dawn Heckman had some quick swims at the Speed Grand Challenge in Irvine, CA. Keri won both the 100 (1:08.53) amd 200 (2:27.15) meter breaststroke events, and Dawn placed second in the 800 meter freestyle (8:44.09).

Ironman 70.3

Last weekend officially kicked off the start of the 2009 triathlon season.

Team Splish produced some great results at Ironman 70.3 California in Oceanside. Amanda Lovato finished 14th against a very-stacked professional field with a time of 4:46:19. Courtenay Brown had a strong professional debut placing 20th with a time of 4:53:00. Rachel Ross kept the momentum going and placed 2nd in the 30-34 age group with a quick time of 4:47:43 (she also qualified for Kona but declined the spot). Michael Lovato also had a good day with a 9th place finish and a time of 4:03:35.

New Splisher Amanda Stevens raced Ironman 70.3 New Orleans. She finished 12th (also against a highly-competitive pro field) with a time of 4:35:35.
